Two held for property dealer’s murder in Ludhiana; 9MM Glock pistol seized
Chandigarh, Aug 11 (IANS) Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in a joint operation with Commissionerate Ludhiana Police, has apprehended two accused wanted in a property dealer murder in Ludhiana and recovered one 9MM Glock pistol along with one cartridge from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav here on Tuesday.
The arrested have been identified as Manjit Singh, alias Bobby, and Mohit Kumar, both residents of Chanderlok Colony in Ludhiana.
As per information, several people, who were armed with pistols and sharp weapons, attacked victim Harjinder Singh in Swatantra Nagar in Ludhiana on August 7, resulting in his death.
DGP Yadav said preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused Manjit Singh has a criminal history and has been involved in multiple criminal cases, including cases pertaining to attempt to murder and offences under the NDPS Act and operating a local gang in Ludhiana City area.
Further investigation is underway, he said.
Sharing operational details, Additional Director General of Police (AGTF) Promod Ban said that police teams from AGTF have received credible human intelligence regarding the whereabouts of two accused wanted in the murder case, which was immediately shared with the technical cell and movements of both the accused were traced successfully.
Acting upon the technical inputs, AGTF teams led by Inspector Vikramjeet Singh launched a coordinated operation with Commissionerate Ludhiana Police and arrested both the accused from the Tibba area, he said.
Sharing more details, Commissioner of Police (Ludhiana) Swapan Sharma said that other accused involved in the crime have been identified and police teams are on the manhunt to nab them.
In this regard, a first information report under Sections 103, 324 (4), 307, 191 (3) and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act has already been registered in Ludhiana.
