Rajasthan CM visits Delhi ahead of Assembly session, meets HM Amit Shah

Jaipur, Aug 6 (IANS) Ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, scheduled to begin on August 20, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited New Delhi on Thursday. He also met Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.

The meeting comes as the Rajasthan government intensifies preparations for the upcoming session. While the visit was described as a courtesy call, its timing has drawn political attention given the proximity of the legislative session.

The Office of the Union Home Minister shared details of the meeting on the social media platform X, stating that the leaders met in New Delhi. With the Assembly session approaching, state ministers have outlined the government’s priorities.

State Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham said the Monsoon Session is being convened in accordance with constitutional requirements.

He said the House will review public welfare schemes, ratify key decisions and consider several bills aimed at public interest.

Cabinet Minister Joraram Kumawat said the government remains committed to ensuring that the benefits of welfare schemes reach the most deprived and backward sections of society. During the session, the government is expected to present its achievements and announce new initiatives for youth and farmers.

The ‘Rising Rajasthan’ initiative, which aims to attract investment and generate employment, is also likely to feature prominently in the agenda. According to cabinet ministers, the government may introduce bills related to agricultural development, women’s safety, youth employment and public welfare.

During his Delhi visit, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma also met Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports Mansukh Mandaviya. Sharing details of the meeting on X, Sharma said the two leaders discussed expanding opportunities for Rajasthan’s youth in skill development, employment, innovation and sports.

The discussions also focused on strengthening the state’s sports ecosystem, developing world-class sports infrastructure and promoting youth leadership through the MY Bharat initiative.

Sharma said the state government is working to create greater opportunities for young people by aligning their aspirations with employment, entrepreneurship and sports development under the Centre and state’s “double-engine government” framework.
