Rajasthan ANTF arrests eight in coordinated anti-narcotics drive

Jaipur, July 11 (IANS) In one of its biggest coordinated anti-narcotics drives, the Rajasthan Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) carried out simultaneous operations across seven districts, arresting eight alleged drug smugglers and seizing large quantities of poppy husk, heroin (chitta), cannabis (ganja) and the synthetic drug MD. The teams also impounded four vehicles — one car and three motorcycles — allegedly used in drug trafficking.

The statewide operation was conducted under the guidance of Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar Sharma and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Dinesh MN, with ANTF teams working in coordination with local police units.

ANTF Inspector General of Police Vikas Kumar said the coordinated crackdown dealt a significant blow to drug trafficking networks operating across Rajasthan and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to a drug-free Rajasthan.

In Sri Ganganagar, a Punjab-based alleged heroin supplier, Raj Singh (28) of Fazilka district, was arrested after allegedly attempting to hide in bushes near Suratgarh. Police recovered 40 grams of heroin (chitta) from his possession.

In Pali, following a high-speed chase in the Khairwa-Aichiya area, police intercepted a car carrying 45.7 kg of poppy husk. The accused, Subhash Siyak (24) of Jodhpur district, was arrested and the vehicle seized.

In Udaipur, two suspects, Prakash (24) of Bhilwara and Virendra Singh (22) of Udaipur, were arrested with 8.3 kg of cannabis concealed in a yellow plastic sack. Both motorcycles allegedly used by the accused were also seized.

In Deeg, police arrested Rajveer Singh alias Raju (50) of Bharatpur district while he was allegedly on his way to deliver a consignment of narcotics. Officers recovered 2.015 kg of cannabis and seized his motorcycle.

In Barmer, acting on specific intelligence, police recovered 5.5 kg of poppy husk hidden in a field in Galaberi village. A case has been registered against the absconding accused, and efforts are under way to trace him.

In Hanumangarh, Ramesh Kumar (37) was arrested after allegedly attempting to flee during a police blockade. Officers recovered 6.27 grams of heroin (chitta) from him.

In Bikaner, two men, Ashok Kumar (43) and Surendra (19), were arrested near the Jodhpur-Ganganagar Bypass with 9.54 grams of the synthetic drug MD packed in two sachets.

IGP Vikas Kumar appealed to the public to share information related to narcotics trafficking with the ANTF Control Room on 0141-2502877 or via WhatsApp at 9261225056, assuring that the identity of informants would remain confidential.

He said the ANTF would continue its intensified enforcement campaign against narcotics trafficking as part of the Rajasthan Police’s mission to make the state drug-free.
