Nitish Kumar meets JDU MPs in Delhi, seeks stronger focus on Bihar’s development, public issues

Patna, Aug 12 (IANS) JDU national president and Rajya Sabha MP Nitish Kumar held a meeting with party MPs in New Delhi and discussed issues concerning Bihar’s development, public welfare and the current political situation.

During the meeting, Nitish Kumar instructed JDU MPs to raise matters related to Bihar and its people strongly in Parliament.

He urged the party’s representatives in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to effectively highlight issues concerning the state’s development and public interest.

Nitish Kumar also called upon the MPs to work with full commitment to address people’s concerns and meet the expectations of the electorate.

He also held one-on-one discussions with several MPs during the meeting.

Those present included JDU national working president and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, along with MPs Dileshwar Kamat, Devesh Chandra Thakur, Kaushalendra Kumar, Dr Alok Suman, Sunil Kumar, Vijayalakshmi Devi and Rampreet Mandal.

JDU Deputy Leader in the Legislative Council and party treasurer Lalan Kumar Sarraf also attended the meeting.

Nitish Kumar is currently in Delhi to participate in Rajya Sabha proceedings following his election to the Upper House.

The absence of JDU MP Lovely Anand from the meeting has attracted political attention.

Her non-participation has led to speculation about her current relationship with the party.

Lovely Anand’s husband, former MP Anand Mohan, has had differences with Nitish Kumar and has publicly criticised the NDA government on several occasions.

Political observers have linked the differences to disagreements over political representation and the reported demand for a ministerial position for their son, Chetan Anand. However, the reasons for Lovely Anand’s absence from the meeting have not been officially stated.

The meeting assumes significance amid repeated disruptions in Parliament and a growing backlog of pending legislative and public-interest matters.

As an important constituent of the NDA, the JDU has been discussing its parliamentary strategy and the issues it intends to prioritise during the ongoing proceedings.

Nitish Kumar had also met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on August 5, adding to the significance of his ongoing engagements in Delhi.
