Kolkata, Aug 10 (IANS) The recently upgraded Multi‑Disciplinary Divisional Training Institute, Sealdah (MDDTI/SDAH), launched its maiden training module on Monday. The course is specially tailored for ministerial staff across all operational units of Eastern Railway (ER).

Ministerial staff are Group C and certain Group B non‑gazetted railway employees engaged in office, legal or administrative work. The module has been designed to bolster administrative efficiency, senior officials said.

“The specialised curriculum is meticulously designed to address the intricate nuances of establishment matters through practical orientation, empowering workforce skillsets to drive qualitative organisational output,” one of them said.

The inaugural session, titled the “ARAMBH COURSE”, was launched during a visit by Mahua Verma, Principal Chief Personnel Officer (PCPO), ER, to MDDTI Sealdah. MDDTI/SDAH is one among seven such institutes across the country set up to provide upgraded training to railway staff from all departments. The institute will soon get more computers and a simulator for frontline operating staff.

Rajeev Saxena, Divisional Railway Manager, Sealdah, urged all administrative units to send nominations liberally for upcoming training modules to maximise institutional value addition.

Verma also unveiled an official “Handbook for Establishment Matters” to serve as a comprehensive reference manual for administrative personnel.

“Continuous training is important not only for operating staff, but also for those who handle administration matters. They have to keep themselves updated with the latest rules and laws for efficient functioning of the various departments. This will also provide greater transparency in functioning,” another official noted.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has laid focus on advanced training and technological advancement for better services.

“This is just the beginning of our comprehensive administrative training roadmap, and Eastern Railway remains steadfast in expanding such skill‑enhancement programmes to achieve seamless operational governance,” Shibram Majhi, CPRO, ER, said.
