Madhya Pradesh Congress PAC meeting on Aug 11 to discuss strategy

Bhopal, Aug 6 (IANS) The Madhya Pradesh Congress on Thursday said its Political Affairs Committee (PAC) will meet in Bhopal on August 11 to discuss the party’s political strategy, strengthen its role as the Opposition and prepare an action plan on key public issues.

Addressing a press conference, Madhya Pradesh Congress media department chairman and former state minister, Mukesh Nayak said the meeting would be attended by former Chief Ministers Digvijaya Singh and Kamal Nath, members of the PAC, party general secretaries and district incharges.

“The Political Affairs Committee will discuss the party’s future strategy and ways to strengthen the Opposition’s role. Senior leaders will deliberate on important political and organisational issues,” Nayak said.

He said district Congress presidents, district incharges and Assembly constituency incharges have been asked to identify local issues and raise them along with state and national issues.

“Congress workers have been assigned the responsibility of bringing issues from villages, towns and cities before the party so that they can be taken up effectively at every level,” Nayak said.

Nayak also alleged that the BJP government has weakened the cooperative sector by amending the law to appoint its own nominees as chairpersons of cooperative banks.

“The BJP government has taken complete control of the cooperative sector. The amendment allows it to appoint nominated chairpersons for an indefinite period, which is against the spirit of cooperative institutions. This issue will also be discussed in the meeting,” he said.

The Congress leader further accused the Chief Minister Mohan Yadav led the BJP government in the state of targeting Opposition leaders.

“The politics of vendetta was never seen in Madhya Pradesh earlier. Congress leaders and their families are being targeted. Jitu Patwari’s family members are being detained by police for several hours, while businesses linked to Congress leaders are also facing action,” Nayak alleged.
