Lok Sabha adjourned till noon seconds after reconvening

New Delhi, Aug 10 (IANS) The Lok Sabha was adjourned till noon, seconds after reconvening on Monday amid uproar by the Opposition benches.

The Monsoon Session entered its last week on Monday. However, the Opposition continued its protest over the NEET paper leak issue and the police action against the protesters on July 20, as well as the Ram Temple donation theft row.

The Lok Sabha is scheduled to take up the introduction of several key bills later in the day.

These include the Kerala (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2026, the Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2026, the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, and the National Co-operative Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2026.

Home Minister Amit Shah will introduce the Kerala (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2026. This Bill proposes to change the name of the state of Kerala to Keralam. The Home Minister will also seek leave to move the National Co-operative Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2026.

Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will introduce the Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2026, in the House, according to the list of business. This Bill seeks to improve the functioning of tribunals and ensure transparency and uniformity in the appointment and service conditions of tribunal members. It also proposes setting up a National Tribunals Commission.

The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 will be introduced by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy. This Bill seeks to further amend the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.

Meanwhile, Congress MP K.C. Venugopal demanded a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the Ram Temple donation theft row. He moved an adjournment motion notice urging the House to direct the Central government to constitute a high-level inquiry into the case.

Congress MP Manish Tewari moved an adjournment motion to discuss the Anti-Defection Law, seeking a discussion on framing the contours of a new law to prevent mass defections.
