J&K has seen normalcy, peace & development since PM Modi took charge: MoS Jitendra Singh

Srinagar, Aug 23 (IANS) Minister of State (MoS) in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh said on Sunday that since the Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in the country, Jammu and Kashmir has seen restoration of normalcy, peace and development.

Speaking to reporters at the end of the BJP workers meeting here, the MoS said, “A meeting of BJP office-bearers from Jammu and Kashmir took place in Srinagar today; such meetings have long been a tradition within the party.”

“The organisation frequently holds such gatherings across various locations. Regarding this specific meeting in Srinagar, it is worth noting that it was held after a considerable gap.”

“Over the past 12 years—since Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office—the atmosphere here has transformed. You have witnessed the restoration of normalcy; conditions are returning to a routine state, and development work is progressing rapidly,” Jitendra Singh added.

“Simultaneously, the mindset of the common citizen—and particularly the youth—is shifting, as they have seen the difficult era we have emerged from.”

“Today’s youth in India, and especially in Kashmir, are highly aspirational and determined not to miss this opportunity for progress… Today, for the first time, lavender farming is taking place here, and a ‘Purple Revolution’ is underway.”

“New dams are being constructed. I believe that as PM Modi envisions a ‘Viksit Bharat’ for the year 2047, this region will play a pivotal role.”

Jitendra Singh also told reporters, “Exactly three years ago, on August 23, Chandrayaan landed on the Moon’s South Pole. Although other nations had initiated their space journeys and programs long before us, we became the first country in the world to reach the South Pole.”

“This demonstrates that we never lacked human resources or talent; what was perhaps missing was the kind of enabling support that comes from the leadership—support that we have now received.”

“Since PM Modi assumed office, the space sector has been opened to the private sector, and given the rapid growth of the space economy, I feel we have now positioned ourselves among the leading nations of the world.”

Besides, Jitendra Singh, other senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit President Sat Sharma, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, former Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, BJP MP Gulam Ali Khatana and others attended the party meeting.

Sunil Sharma told reporters that party workers from across Jammu and Kashmir attended the meeting on Sunday during which the party strategy during the upcoming Assembly session in the Union Territory were discussed.

BJP MP Gulam Ali Khatana said, “The BJP is the world’s largest cadre-based party. Meetings are a routine affair for us… There is only one issue concerning Jammu and Kashmir: the fact that it is under Pakistan’s illegal occupation.”

“That matter remains to be resolved. Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India… Some people—the Congress and other offshoot parties—engage in vote-bank politics… We have moved towards peace.”

“(Congress leader) Rahul Gandhi tried to hijack protests by young people by involving anti-social elements. You might have seen how he behaved in Jharkhand; he has no real issues. He has wasted the time of several Parliamentary sessions.”
