Delhi: DDA to develop 5-star hotel in Dwarka’s Sector-23

New Delhi, Aug 13 (IANS) The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has signed an agreement with a hospitality group to develop a five-star hotel in Dwarka, a project that is likely to create around 800 direct employment opportunities, an official said on Thursday.

Aligned with the vision of Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu to make Dwarka as an investment hub, the DDA and the hospitality group signed the agreement on Wednesday to develop the hotel in Dwarka’s Sector-23, an official statement said.

The agreement was signed in the presence of DDA Vice Chairman N. Saravana Kumar, it added.

The project will be executed by the hospitality group on licence fee basis and the development of the hotel will create direct employment opportunities for around 800 people and involve a capital investment of more than Rs 1,000 crore, it said.

Once operational, the five-star property will strengthen the availability of quality accommodation in Delhi-NCR, while adding to Dwarka’s hospitality infrastructure and catering to the growing demand from business travellers, visitors and tourists, the DDA said.

The hotel will overlook DDA’s Dwarka Golf Course, the country’s longest 18-hole golf course, offering a strategic location to cater to the specialised hospitality needs of golfers and visitors to the course, it added.

The proposed hotel’s proximity to the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, the largest convention centre in India and Asia by area, and the Dwarka Sports Complex would enhance its locational advantage, the DDA said.

The hotel is also set to be among the first hospitality facilities to cater to the proposed Diplomatic Enclave planned opposite the site, it added.
