Bhopal, Aug 9 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will launch four new direct air services for the state at a programme at Raja Bhoj Airport on Sunday, August 9.

The new routes—Bhopal-Rewa, Bhopal-Patna, Rewa-Kolkata and Jabalpur-Kolkata—will be operated by Alliance Air.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister will flag off the inaugural Bhopal-Rewa flight. The launch will significantly strengthen intra-state and inter-state air connectivity. Financial assistance for these domestic routes is being provided under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Aviation Policy, with the state government offering Viability Gap Funding of up to Rs 10 lakh per round trip.

The government continues to prioritise expansion of air connectivity through the Madhya Pradesh Civil Aviation Policy-2025, aiming to link various cities with major national destinations and offer citizens convenient, safe and timely travel. So far, eight new air routes have been approved under the policy. Services have already begun on four of them—Rewa-Delhi, Rewa-Indore, Rewa-Raipur and Indore-Abu Dhabi—while the remaining four are being inaugurated now.

The Bhopal-Rewa service will bolster connectivity between the state capital and the “Vindhya” region. The direct Bhopal-Patna flight will link Madhya Pradesh’s capital with Bihar’s capital, benefiting the large population from Bihar residing in the state as well as travellers, traders and businesspersons.

Direct services between Rewa-Kolkata and Jabalpur-Kolkata will enhance air links between these important cities of Madhya Pradesh and Eastern India.

Officials said the new services will enable citizens to reach destinations in less time compared to long-distance surface travel, facilitate passenger movement and accelerate tourism, trade, education and economic activities.

Officials said the new services will enable citizens to reach destinations in less time compared to long-distance surface travel, facilitate passenger movement and accelerate tourism, trade, education and economic activities. Improved air links are expected to attract more investment, support medical and educational travel, and boost local employment opportunities in aviation-related sectors.

The initiative aligns with the state’s broader vision of balanced regional development and seamless connectivity across key economic and cultural centres.

The event will be attended by Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla and Union Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha.
