Urmila Matondkar recalls ‘original macho man’ Sanjay Dutt always being in bad mood while shooting dance sequences

Mumbai, June 29 (IANS) Bollywood star Urmila Matondkar revealed some unknown facts about Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt and his moods when it came to dancing.

While her recent appearance on the dance reality show, India’s Best Dancer Season 5 took the audience on a nostalgic journey while sharing some untold stories and memories from their experiences with Sanjay Dutt.

During the conversation, when host Harsh asked about working with Sanjay Dutt, Urmila Matondkar shared a fun behind-the-scenes memory.

She said, “Sanju ki ek baat main aap ko batati hu, maine unke saath do-teen filmein ki hai. Sab actresses aapko batayengi jinhone unke saath kaam kiya hai. Jab bhi dance ka gaana aata hai, woh itne kharab mood mein rehte aur kehte hai, ‘Yaar mujhe ye nahi karna hai, mujhe vo nahi karna hai.’ Phir chupke se jaake rehearsals kar ke final mein jab woh aake dance karte, toh aapko lagta hai, toh itna kya bol rahe the? Woh hai unka. Woh bahut irritate ho jayenge because he is the original macho man of the industry, but equally darling to work with.”

(Let me tell you one thing about Sanju, I have done two or three films with him. All actresses who have worked with him will tell you the same. Whenever a dance song came up, he would be in such a bad mood and say, ‘Man, I don’t want to do this, I don’t want to do that.’ Then he would secretly go and rehearse, and when he finally came to perform the actual dance, you’d wonder why he was complaining so much in the first place! That is just how he is. He gets very irritated because he is the original macho man of the industry, but he is equally a darling to work with)

Talking about Urmila Matondkar and Sanjay Dutt, the two shared screen space in many films, including Daud (1997), Khoobsurat (1999), and Jung (2000).

Their on-screen chemistry was appreciated by audiences, while songs such as ‘O Bhavre’ from Daud, ‘Aana Zara Paas To Aa’ from Khoobsurat, and ‘Aaila Re’ from Jung continue to be remembered among fans of 1990s Bollywood music.
