Telangana CM vows to develop Future City despite ‘Opposition hurdles’

Hyderabad, June 19 (IANS) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has vowed to overcome all obstacles to develop the Bharat Future City by inviting global investors to set up their firms in what he promises to be the first of its kind new state-of-the-art city in the country.

Launching ‘Vanamahotsavam-2026’ at Gurramgunda in Rangareddy district on the outskirts of Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said on Thursday that the state government was undeterred by the hurdles created by the Opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to the Future City.

“We are committed to complete the prestigious Future City project and see that people eulogise the city for generations to come,” he added.

The Chief Minister launched a scathing attack on the BRS for demanding the establishment of the pharma companies in the Future City.

“The BRS is opposing the construction of a Future City across 30,000 acres and insisting only pharma companies should be established. People have already rejected the BRS and the leaders who have no future are yelling against the Future City,” he remarked.

On BRS leader Harish Rao’s statement that if voted back to power, BRS will scrap Future City project, Revanth Reddy remarked, “Harish Rao win the next election in Siddipet first.”

Claiming the Siris pharma company was shifted from LB Nagar after a lot of struggle, the Chief Minister said if pharma companies are established in the Future City this would pose a big threat to people.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy alleged that the Opposition was conspiring to stall the Future City by lodging complaints in the High Court and National Green Tribunal (NGT).

“We are developing a 15,000-acre forest within the ‘Bharat Future City’ project as 60 per cent of the area will be covered by greenery,” the Chief Minister said, appealing to the people to teach a befitting lesson to the leaders who opposed the project.

He added that the HITEC City, Outer Ring Road, international airport, and IT companies in the region would not have gained international recognition if the previous governments had not conceived these prestigious projects.

Saying that the state government was striving to transform Hyderabad into a global city, CM Revanth Reddy criticised the BRS for opposing the Musi Rejuvenation project.

The Chief Minister noted that people living along Musi river were facing numerous hardships due to pollution.

The state government was making efforts to clean up the Musi River and reclaim lakes from encroachments, he said.

The Chief Minister expressed serious concern that people of Nalgonda district were facing immense hardship due to Musi river pollution as many of them were migrating due to serious ailments.

“I will certainly clean up the Musi River and develop it to international standards along the 55-km stretch from Gandipet to Gowrelli,” he said.

On the Opposition’s criticism over Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), CM Revanth Reddy said that the state government is determined to clear encroachments on tanks and other water bodies.

The HYDRAA was removing encroachments ensuring that colonies would not face inundation and the poor would not suffer, he added.

He said that the state government thwarted the attempts made by the Opposition to portray the HYDRAA as a ‘monster’.

The Chief Minister made it clear that the HYDRAA will not interfere with those buildings and homes constructed legally.

He cautioned residential colonies would submerge if the lakes are encroached upon.

Stating that the state government will not spare encroachers, the Chief Minister mentioned that Delhi was already in the grip of air pollution where people are struggling to breathe air.

“Mumbai was flooding and Bengaluru was facing regular traffic problems. The state government is committed to make Hyderabad as the best liveable city in the country,” he added.
