MP: Court rejects anticipatory bail plea of suspended CSP Neha Pachisia

Katni, Aug 29 (IANS) Suspended Katni City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Neha Pachisia suffered a setback on Saturday after a district court rejected her anticipatory bail plea in a case related to an alleged land deal and misuse of official position.

The court dismissed Pachisia’s anticipatory bail application (BA/821/2026), citing the seriousness of the allegations and evidence collected during the investigation. Pachisia has been absconding since an FIR was registered at Kuthla police station in connection with the case.

Her alleged associates, financier Kshitij Raj Barapatre and paper buyer Maroof Ahmed Hanfi, are also absconding. The case gained attention after Chief Minister Mohan Yadav ordered action against Pachisia following allegations of irregularities in a land transaction and misuse of her official position. She was subsequently suspended by the state government, with the announcement made by the Chief Minister on Thursday.

Police have announced a reward of Rs 10,000 each for information leading to the arrest of Pachisia and the two other accused. An eight‑member Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by Jabalpur Additional Superintendent of Police Anjana Tiwari, is probing the case. The team is examining bank transactions, documents and digital records linked to the alleged deal.

Katni Superintendent of Police Abhinay Vishwakarma said searches were being conducted at several locations to trace the accused.

“Searches are being conducted at possible hideouts, and all available evidence is being examined. Police teams are making continuous efforts to trace the accused,” he said.

The investigation is also focused on financial transactions and documentary evidence that could establish the sequence of events in the alleged land deal. Police sources said the sealed office of the suspended CSP may be opened to seize documents and electronic records considered relevant.

“The investigation is based on documentary, financial and digital evidence. Further action will be taken according to law after examining all the evidence,” Vishwakarma added. Police said efforts to trace all three accused were continuing.
