Mohan Bhagwat to visit US, UK, Canada to counter propaganda against India, Hindus and RSS

Visakhapatnam, Aug 21 (IANS) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s proposed visit to the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom is to counter propaganda, misconceptions regarding India, Hindus and the Sangh, a top RSS leader said on Friday.

The visit is a part of global outreach of the RSS in its centenary year.

RSS Joint General Secretary C.R. Mukund said they were reaching out to societies in different countries creating positive narrative about India, Hindus and the RSS.

He was replying to queries after briefing media on the three-day all India coordination meeting of RSS and its affiliated organisations that concluded at Gudilova near Visakhapatnam on Friday.

He said that the RSS Chief’s three-nation tour has three primary objectives. The first is to present a factual and positive perspective amid the misconceptions and propaganda prevalent globally regarding India, Hindu society, and the RSS.

Mukund added that the second objective of the visit was to convey the message of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family) and global oneness—propounded by India’s ancient sages—to diverse societies across the world.

“The third objective is to foster dialogue with mainstream societies in various countries regarding the interests and rights of Hindus and people of Indian origin residing there,” he said.

Mohan Bhagwat will participate in the ‘Universal Oneness’ program in New York, as well as community leadership events in Toronto and London.

RSS Chief Bhagwat, RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, BJP President Nitin Nabin and key office bearers of the RSS and the organisations inspired by RSS attended the meet, which is held every year.

Out of 326 delegates invited, 306 including 49 women, participated in the three-day event.

Mukund said detailed deliberations were held regarding the current situation of the country and society, the work being undertaken by various organisations, their experiences, future challenges, and upcoming action plans.

A review was conducted of community-based service and rehabilitation efforts undertaken during natural disasters.

Information was shared regarding the relief and rehabilitation work carried out by various organisations and activists—including Rashtriya Seva Bharati, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, National Medicos Organisation (NMO), Arogya Bharati and BJP — during the severe floods in Assam.

The meeting also discussed a development model rooted in the Indian perspective.

Deliberations focused on the experiences of organisations working in the economic sector to ensure that development is self-reliant, eco-friendly, and inclusive of all sections of society.

Information was shared regarding various socially beneficial activities undertaken by numerous organisations; for instance, it was noted that more than 41,000 people received skill training this year through skill development centres operated in the micro-industry sector by Laghu Udyog Bharati, ‘Panch Parivartan’ (Five Transformations) and ‘Kutumb Prabodhan’ (Family Awakening)

A special discussion was held regarding the various dimensions of ‘Panch Parivartan’ — aimed at societal transformation — in the context of the Sangh’s centenary year.

Specifically, under ‘Kutumb Prabodhan,’ deliberations focused on the need to strengthen the Indian family system, family values, and cultural traditions passed down through generations.

Regarding environmental conservation, the emphasis was placed on bringing about changes in the daily lives of individuals and families, rather than merely passing resolutions.

Practices such as the judicious use of water, minimising plastic usage, and expanding green cover should become an integral part of every family’s lifestyle.

The RSS leader said a detailed presentation and discussion took place regarding the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on society.

While considering the positive potential of AI alongside the associated precautions and challenges, the need to view it through an Indian perspective and within the Indian social context was emphasised.

Deliberations will continue on how technology can be utilised for the greater good of society and how to raise public awareness regarding its potential adverse effects, Mukund said.

Discussions were also held on expanding the activities undertaken across various sectors of society by 32 Sangh-inspired organisations.

Plans for the coming year were deliberated upon with the aim of extending a nationalist outlook and a society-centric approach to more areas of society, as well as expanding organisational work.
