Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi praises Mumbai man for creating specialised website to know India’s history

New Delhi, Aug 30 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday shared Krishna Seshadri’s story and praised him for his unique historical work, highlighting a specialised website created by him.

Addressing the 137th episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi recalled that sometime ago, someone on social media wrote, “On this auspicious occasion of Ashaadha Ekadashi, I am very happy to announce that I am embarking on an initiative to make history interesting.”

The Prime Minister said that the person further elaborated on the “very simple” idea of the procedure and mentioned that by visiting a website, selecting any one year, one will easily get to know who ruled which part of India at that time.

“I found it quite interesting; so I thought that I should get more information about this. I came to know that this was done by Mumbai’s Krishna Seshadri ji. Interestingly, Krishna Ji has kept a very simple name for the website — www.bharatrajya.com. Information about his effort must reach you all also. So I thought of having a conversation with Krishna ji,” PM Modi said.

“I came to know that you are neither from the world of tech nor a history teacher. Even then, you made a history website using technology. I am very curious to know how all this happened,” the Prime Minister asked Krishna.

Through Seshadri’s work, people can select any particular year on the website to instantly map and see which ruler or dynasty governed what specific part of India during that era.

Krishna thanked PM Modi for giving him a platform to elaborate on his website. He explained how even after coming from an engineering background, he was always drawn towards history; hence, he thought of making such a thing to make people aware of Indian history.

“I thought of making a website to introduce the great empires of the nation to the people,” Krishna told the Prime Minister.

PM Modi asked if Krishna had a chance to talk to three people from Indian history, whom would he choose. To this, Krishna replied, Rajendra Chola, one of the most important rulers of the Chola dynasty, to know more about the architecture from his era. The second personality, he said, is Hemu, an ordinary trader who later built an empire and won 22 fights of the 23 he fought in his lifetime. The third personality, he said, was Tribhuvana Mahadevi from the Bhauma-Kara dynasty in Odisha.

“It seems that you are living history. You are completely immersed in history,” the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi said that he has also visited Krishna’s site and praised his decision to give sections to suggest or correct something.
