High-level UK delegation visits National Defence College
New Delhi, Aug 21 (IANS) A high-level delegation from the UK led by Jeremy Pocklington, Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Defence of the UK, visited the National Defence College (NDC) in New Delhi on Friday.
“A high-level UK delegation led by Mr. Jeremy Pocklington CB, Permanent Secretary at MoD (UK) visited NDC, New Delhi. The objective of the visit was to enhance interactions at the senior leadership level and sharing of best practices,” the NDC stated on X.
In June, India and the United Kingdom held the 15th Executive Steering Group (ESG) meeting in London, discussing ways to enhance defence cooperation and deepen the long-standing partnership between the Indian Army and the British Army.
It was held from June 17-19, and the engagements included visits to the UK Trials and Experimental Group.
The talks centred on advancing multi-tiered military cooperation through enhanced interoperability, bilateral joint exercises and training, subject matter expert exchanges in niche and emerging military technologies, exploration of new avenues of training collaboration, and increased engagement between defence think tanks.
In April, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan visited the UK, marking a “landmark moment” in the UK-India defence partnership.
UK Chief of the Defence Staff Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton hosted General Chauhan during the three-day visit, which included bilateral talks, ministerial engagement and defence industry collaboration.
During the visit, India and the UK reaffirmed their shared resolve to collaboratively address contemporary challenges from global trade imbalances to emerging cyber threats while advancing a peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific and harnessing accelerated technological transformation.
During the visit, senior UK military, Ministers, academics, and think tanks met General Chauhan. Representatives of British industry met CDS Chauhan to advance talks on greater defence co-operation supporting jobs, growth, and security for both nations.
General Chauhan also visited the Royal College of Defence Studies and met international course Members of both the Global Strategic Program and the Pinnacle Course as they develop to be the most senior future military and cross-government leaders.
