Economic transformation sole aim of double-engine govt to secure public welfare: CM Adhikari

Kolkata, Aug 27 (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said on Thursday that the aim of the new double-engine government was to move ahead with a plan to ensure public welfare through the state’s economic transformation.

He also said that to achieve the goal, he was ready to do whatever is necessary to attract big-ticket investment in the state and ensure the ease of doing business here.

“The new double-engine government is operating with a goal to ensure public welfare through transformation. And to achieve that goal of economic transformation, I, as the Chief Minister is ready with my two hands open to cooperate with the investors and industrialists in meeting their requirements for making big-ticket investments in the state,” the Chief Minister said while inaugurating the Information Technology set-up of a national business group at New Town in the northern outskirts of Kolkata.

Claiming that this new set-up will provide employment to 5,800 individuals, the Chief Minister also said that his aim is not only to arrest the brain drain from the state, but also to ensure homecoming of the talented brains from the state currently settled outside for their livelihood.

“A day will come soon when the highly skilled and talented youths from West Bengal, who are currently in cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad and even abroad, will start returning to the state. Please come back. A double-engine government has been established here,” CM Adhikari said.

According to him, the inauguration of the new Information Technology set-up has sent a message that West Bengal still has the chance to revive its past glory as an industry-friendly and industrially developed state.

“The double-engine government here is committed to creating employment in the state. The government will help small industrial enterprises besides facilitating big-ticket investments. There will be more investments in the state in the coming days,” the Chief Minister said.

Speaking on the occasion, he also said that brain drain from West Bengal was high because the previous Trinamool Congress could not create the right opportunities for them to stay in the state.

“There is no dearth of skilled and technical brains in the state. The previous government could not give respect to the deserving youth. But now the situation has changed. The youth will no longer have to leave the state. The double-engine government is committed to the reconstruction of Bengal. I hope more investment will be made in West Bengal. Our goal is to rebuild West Bengal,” he added.
