Jaipur, Aug 28 (IANS) A horrific road accident occurred on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Dausa district on Friday, leaving a bus driver dead and 21 passengers injured.

The accident took place on Raksha Bandhan, turning the journey of families travelling home for the festival into a scene of panic and mourning. The accident occurred in the morning near Gudhaliya village, under the jurisdiction of Kolwa police station.

According to preliminary information, a sleeper bus operated by a private travel company was travelling from Ahmedabad to Delhi when it rammed into a truck moving ahead. The collision was so severe that the front portion of the bus was completely mangled.

The bus driver died on the spot, while 21 passengers sustained injuries.

The loud impact alerted nearby villagers, who rushed to the accident site and began helping passengers trapped inside the bus.

Police teams from Kolwa and Sadar police stations also reached the spot after receiving information about the crash.

Ambulances were arranged to transport the injured to Dausa District Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

Dausa Superintendent of Police Piyush Dixit visited the accident site and took stock of the situation.

Police officials and local residents worked together to rescue passengers and clear the affected area.

The accident caused traffic congestion on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway for some time.

Police deployed cranes to remove the damaged bus and truck from the road and subsequently restored the movement of traffic.

Police have begun investigating the circumstances that led to the collision. Further details regarding the cause of the accident and the condition of the injured passengers are awaited.

Recently, in another horrifying accident, three women were run over by a speeding car on the Jaipur-Bandikui Expressway near Booj village in Jaipur’s Jamwaramgarh area on August 23.
