New Delhi, July 25 (IANS) The Dwarka District Police arrested an alleged illicit liquor supplier and seized 150 quarters of illegal liquor along with a scooter used for transportation of the booze, as part of their ongoing enforcement drive under the anti-drug campaign.
According to an official press release issued by the Dwarka District Police on Saturday, the operation was carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Cell following specific Intelligence about the movement of an alleged liquor supplier in the Uttam Nagar area.
The accused has been identified as Bobby alias Golu, son of Mukesh Kumar, a 42-year-old resident of Mohan Garden, Delhi. Police said he was apprehended while allegedly transporting illicit liquor on a scooter for delivery.
The police stated that the operation is part of a larger initiative launched under the directions of Dwarka DCP Kushal Pal Singh, IPS, who has instructed district police teams to intensify action against the illegal drug and liquor trade.
Highlighting the objective of the campaign, the official press release said, “Kushal Pal Singh IPS – DCP Dwarka, has tasked his District police teams to engage in a decisive war against drugs and illicit liquor.”
The release added that the campaign aims to make “Dwarka, Delhi and adjoining areas completely free from the menace” while encouraging young people to engage in constructive activities and reject social evils.
As part of the special drive, a dedicated team of the Anti-Narcotics Cell comprising SI Premnarayan, SI Naveen, HC Mahipal, and Ct. Mukesh, under the supervision of ACP/Operations Subhash Malik, was deployed to monitor the movement of suspected illicit liquor suppliers.
According to the police, the breakthrough came after the team received secret information about an individual transporting illicit liquor on a scooter. Acting on the tip-off, officers conducted a raid in Mansa Ram Park, Uttam Nagar, where Golu was intercepted.
The official statement noted, “At the instance of secret informer, the team conducted a raid at Mansa Ram Park, Uttam Nagar, Delhi and one person namely Bobby @ Golu… was apprehended with 150 Quarters of illicit liquor & a scooty… while he was going for supply on Scooty.”
The accused, along with the recovered liquor and vehicle, was handed over to personnel of Bindapur Police Station for further legal action.
The press release further stated that the accused has no previous criminal involvement on record. Authorities confirmed that further investigation is underway to determine the source of the liquor and identify any wider network involved in its distribution.
