Delhi: Kapil Mishra calls for family, protection, dignity for children at ‘Swanath Sammelan-2026’

New Delhi, Aug 21 (IANS) Delhi Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra on Friday said that the true measure of a society’s development is not merely the construction of roads, bridges, buildings and airports, but ensuring that every child becomes a part of the mainstream.

He said every child should get an opportunity to move forward in accordance with their talent and potential.

Mishra made these remarks while addressing the ‘Swanath Sammelan-2026’ (From Orphanhood to Swanath).

The Minister said that every child should have the right to protection, education, security and self-reliance.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, this resolve is being translated into reality.

He said that providing Swanath children with family love, protection and values is not merely the responsibility of an individual or an organisation, but a collective responsibility of the entire society.

The event was organised by the Vishva Manav Sahayata Parishad in collaboration with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and the Delhi Government’s Department of Women and Child Development.

The conference discussed issues related to child protection, family, education, security and self-reliance.

Mishra said that if any section of society is being left behind, it means that we still have a distance to cover and must work towards reaching those children.

Therefore, one of the measures of social development should also be how many Swanath children we have been able to connect with the mainstream of society, he said.

He said that the goal of a developed India by 2047 cannot be achieved only through large-scale infrastructure and construction projects.

A developed India will emerge when every son and daughter of society becomes a part of the mainstream, and their capabilities can be utilised for the development of the country and the nation, he said.

Mishra said that there are a large number of children who need family, protection and a sense of belonging. Capable families in society should come forward and be encouraged to make such children a part of their families and take responsibility for their education, upbringing and values, he stated.
