CM Suvendu Adhikari warns Humayun Kabir against making derogatory public speeches

Kolkata, June 29 (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday warned Naoda MLA and Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) chief Humayun Kabir for making provocative and derogatory public speeches and said that “enough is enough”.

The Chief Minister also said that the process of registering an FIR has been started under some sections in view of the speeches that Humayun gave at the programme in Rejinagar and Shaktipur recently. According to him, Humayun Kabir is saying all this because he wants to make his son win the by-election in the Rejinagar Assembly seat, which he left vacant. However, Suvendu Adhikari said such talk cannot be said anymore and asked Humayun to be ‘restrained’.

On Monday, the Chief Minister read out the speeches that Humayun gave at the first two programmes in his Assembly constituency.

Speaking in the House of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Adhikari said, “After two incidents, I felt that enough is enough. It is time to teach such people a lesson. I am telling you clearly, Mamata Banerjee is not the (state) Chief Minister now. You have done whatever you wanted after getting a weak Chief Minister till now.”

After that, Suvendu clarified what steps his government has taken. He said, “I told you, I have started two FIRs.” The Chief Minister said that cases 219 and 226 have been registered at Rejinagar Police Station in the June 26 incident, under sections 152, 196, 197, 224, 299, 351 (2), 352, 353 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). In the second incident, another case has been registered at Shaktipur Police Station under sections 176 and 226 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The Chief Minister made it clear that no one gave Humayun the power to speak in the language he spoke. In his words, “I assure you, no one gave him such a big power.”

Shuvendu also explained the reason why the Naoda MLA is saying all this. “I know why he is doing it. I know the political reasons; there were two agendas.” After this, Suvendu explained in more detail that Humayun’s first objective was to take all the elected panchayats in Bharatpur, Rejinagar, and Naoda in Murshidabad district, no matter which party they belong to, to his party.

Regarding Humayun’s second objective, Suvendu said, “He won two seats in the Assembly elections. He gave up the Rejinagar seat as per the rules. There will be a re-election there in the next 2 to 3 months. You want your son to win from that seat. There are 72 per cent Muslims in that seat. You are playing this game to consolidate Muslim votes.”

The Chief Minister warned, ”Listen with your ears, I will not let you speak in this way, I will not let you, I will not let you, I will not let you.”

Without taking names, the Chief Minister also reminded him of Sheikh Shahjahan in Sandeshkhali, Saokat Molla in Canning, and Jahangir Khan in Falta, who have all been arrested for various types of crimes.

After that, Suvendu said, ”The police are taking action. I am going to Murshidabad in a week. The Constitution and law of India have the final say. Talkative people do not have the final say.” After warning Humayun, Suvendu said, ”Be restrained. Be careful. Withdraw such words. Think 25 times before saying such words in the future.”

After the Chief Minister’s speech, Humayun said, “I did not say anything against the Chief Minister. I spoke against the way those who are new BJP members, those who joined the BJP after May 4, have caused unrest in the area. If I am arrested for that, then be it. I fought against these people and formed a new party. I won.”
