Centre committed to equitable development under Viksit Bharat vision: Nityanand Rai

Kohima, July 7 (IANS) Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, who is on a two-day visit to Nagaland, on Tuesday said the Central government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is committed to ensuring inclusive growth and equitable development across all regions of the country in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat.

The visiting Union minister chaired a review meeting with Heads of Departments and district-level officers at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall in Mokokchung district. During interactions with officials, Rai stressed the importance of effectively implementing centrally sponsored schemes to achieve the goals and objectives envisioned by the Government of India. He stated that proper execution of these schemes is essential to ensure inclusive and equitable growth and development across all regions of the country.

Rai urged the departments implementing various central schemes to establish clear priorities and formulate well-defined action plans for the efficient delivery of public services. He emphasised the need for transparency, accountability and timely implementation to ensure that the intended benefits reach the people.

Highlighting Nagaland’s immense agricultural potential, the minister observed that the state is endowed with favourable natural resources and climatic conditions for organic farming. He therefore called for optimum and systematic utilisation of available resources to promote sustainable agricultural growth and improve livelihoods.

During the meeting, Heads of Departments and district offices presented brief reports on the centrally sponsored schemes being implemented in Mokokchung district, highlighting their progress, achievements and challenges.

Rai interacted with members of the Ungma Village Council at the community hall in Mokokchung. Addressing the gathering, he remarked that the strength and beauty of India lie in its rich diversity, where every region contributes unique traditions, customs and cultural heritage, collectively reflecting the country’s vibrant identity.

Acknowledging the presence of Padma Shree Awardee Guru Sangyusang Pongener, the minister lauded his outstanding contribution to preserving and promoting the community’s traditional art and culture. He stated that such efforts play a vital role in ensuring that future generations remain connected to their cultural heritage and identity.

During the visit, Rai inspected the library cum museum at Ungma village, where he appreciated the village’s initiatives to preserve and showcase the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Ao community and Nagaland.

He also visited the ongoing construction of the hospital building at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital, being undertaken under the Purvotta Sampark Setu programme of the Ministry of Development of North East Region.
