Patna, June 30 (IANS) In a major breakthrough against organised crime, Patna Police have arrested Sanjay Singh, the alleged leader of the Pandav Sena gang, who had been absconding for an extended period.
He was apprehended at Patna Junction after arriving from Delhi by train with his wife and children.
According to police, the arrest was carried out following specific Intelligence inputs received by the Bihar Special Task Force (STF).
Officials said a special police team was deployed at Patna Junction after receiving information about Sanjay Singh’s arrival.
Surveillance was maintained at the railway station, and he was taken into custody as soon as he got off the train.
Police stated that the operation was conducted without any disturbance, after which the accused was taken to a secure location for questioning.
Following the arrest, Sanjay Singh’s wife, Pushpa Kumari, released a video stating that she was returning to Patna from Delhi with her husband and children when personnel of the Government Railway Police (GRP) detained him.
In the video, she expressed concern about her husband’s safety and called for an impartial investigation into the matter.
According to Bihta SHO Amit Kumar, Sanjay Singh is considered the key member of the alleged Pandav Sena gang.
Police said that more than two dozen criminal cases, including allegations of murder, extortion, and robbery, have been registered against him at police stations in Patna, Jehanabad, and other districts of Bihar.
He had allegedly been evading arrest for several years.
These allegations remain part of the criminal cases registered against him and will be subject to judicial proceedings.
Police officials described the arrest as a significant development in their efforts against organised crime.
Investigators are questioning Sanjay Singh regarding the alleged gang’s network, individuals who may have assisted him while he was absconding, other suspected gang members, and his alleged involvement in recent criminal cases.
Authorities stated that further action will depend on the outcome of the interrogation, and additional operations may be conducted against others suspected of being linked to the alleged criminal network.
