New Delhi, June 20 (IANS) On the eve of the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, Minister of State for Ayush and Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav on Saturday invited citizens to join celebrations led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in large numbers.

Urging citizens to become a part of the historic celebrations of health, harmony and India’s timeless yoga tradition, Jadhav said this year the Ministry of Culture is also organising special IDY 2026 celebrations at 100 iconic locations across the country.

He said, “The main event of International Day of Yoga 2026 will be held on June 21 at the historic Red Road in Kolkata under the leadership of PM Modi. On this occasion, the entire nation will come together to practise the Common Yoga Protocol and share India’s message of yoga with the world.”

“I urge everyone to be a part of this historic occasion and contribute with enthusiasm and participation to make International Day of Yoga 2026 a memorable and successful celebration,” said Jadhav, pointing to the celebrations planned across 23 States and Union Territories.

Taking yoga closer to citizens, special IDY celebrations are also being organised across Delhi at prominent public locations, said an official statement.

People can participate in yoga sessions at designated venues across the National Capital Region, including major parks, sports complexes, heritage sites and community spaces including: Kartavya Path, Lawn of Shantipath, Baansera, Sarai Kale Khan, Yamuna Sports Complex, Lodhi Garden and Red Fort, said the statement.

The Ministry of Ayush calls upon citizens, organisations, institutions and communities to join the International Day of Yoga celebrations on June 21, reach their nearest yoga venue on time and practise the Common Yoga Protocol together.

Citizens are encouraged to arrive early, participate with enthusiasm and become part of this historic celebration that reflects the spirit of Jan Bhagidari and India’s commitment towards taking yoga’s message of health, harmony and well-being to the world.
