Bihar CM lays foundation stone for projects worth Rs 285 crore in Motihari

Patna, Sep 1 (IANS) Participating in the Kisan Samriddhi Conference-cum-Felicitation Ceremony in Motihari, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said that his government is committed to the welfare and economic empowerment of farmers.

The event, held at the Motihari Auditorium, was attended by several Union ministers, local MPs, intellectuals, labourers and social workers.

Addressing the gathering, Choudhary said the government would take several key initiatives to increase farmers’ income, strengthen the agriculture sector and give fresh momentum to the rural economy.

He said these initiatives would include efforts to establish a new sugar mill in Motihari, strengthen the dairy sector and develop a Matsya Samriddhi Cluster.

The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stones for a series of development projects worth approximately Rs 285 crore in Motihari, East Champaran, covering urban infrastructure, education, healthcare, sports and science.

The package includes municipal corporation projects worth around Rs 78 crore, along with the proposed Motihari Planetarium, a sports stadium at MS College, and projects for a medical college and Kendriya Vidyalaya near Motihari airport.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for development schemes worth approximately Rs 78 crore in the municipal corporation area.

According to an official, projects worth around Rs 1.25 crore have been approved for each of the city’s 46 wards.

The schemes are expected to improve basic civic infrastructure and accelerate development across the municipal corporation area.

The foundation stone was also laid for the Motihari Planetarium.

The facility is expected to provide school and college students with greater exposure to astronomy and space science and promote interest in scientific and technical education.

Another major project is a sports stadium on the campus of MS College, estimated to cost around Rs 30 crore.

Once completed, the stadium is expected to provide improved facilities for athletes, including infrastructure for training and sporting competitions.

The project is aimed at strengthening sports infrastructure in the district and providing better opportunities for local talent.

Foundation stones were also laid for a medical college and a Kendriya Vidyalaya at the Home Guard ground near Motihari airport.

The proposed medical college is expected to strengthen medical education and healthcare infrastructure in East Champaran, while the Kendriya Vidyalaya will provide students with access to quality school education.

The Rs 285 crore development package covers multiple sectors, including urban development, education, healthcare, sports and science.

Once completed, the projects are expected to expand infrastructure and create new opportunities for students, young people, athletes and residents across Motihari.
