BJP workers must gear up to fight ‘fake narratives’: Maha CM (Lead)

Pune, Aug 31 (IANS) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said Congress has taken inspiration from Maoism and embraced falsehoods to spread anarchy across the country.

He claimed opposition parties like Congress are actively engaged in peddling fake narratives, urging Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers to gear up to fight this misinformation. He addressed the concluding session of the BJP State Executive Committee meeting in Pune.

Calling the upcoming political battle a fight against fake narratives, CM Fadnavis pointed out how the Opposition raised allegations of “saffronisation” when the government introduced historical truths into the curriculum.

He said NCERT textbooks under the previous regime dedicated 13 pages to Mughal history and reduced Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to a single paragraph. “Our true history was hidden from us for decades. The Modi government rectified this by reducing the Mughals to a single paragraph and allocating 17 pages to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Maratha history, shattering their fake narrative,” he remarked.

CM Fadnavis alleged that the Opposition’s next target is the upcoming Kumbh Mela, where they have begun alleging corruption. He said tenders called for the Kumbh Mela had come in 20 to 30 per cent below estimated costs, saving over Rs 100 crore in individual contracts.

“We are conducting audits in four distinct stages. The Opposition’s sole strategy is to lie repeatedly and blatantly,” he added.

Highlighting historical warnings, CM Fadnavis recalled that Bharat Ratna B R Ambedkar had cautioned the nation about the dangers of anarchy in his final speech. He said the same threat was being unleashed today under the guise of the Constitution.

“This is targeted not just against the BJP, but against society at large. The Opposition invokes the Constitution while trampling upon its core values to instigate chaos. However, anyone attempting to misuse the Constitution will end up burning their own hands,” he warned.

He added that while India marches toward self-reliance, several global forces are attempting to stall its progress. “These forces know that if India is not stopped now, it cannot be stopped later. Only around 5 per cent of the people working with them realise they are being used, while 95 per cent remain unaware,” he said.

CM Fadnavis alleged that Congress, a party that once amended the Constitution to strip away fundamental rights beyond judicial recourse, is now flaunting a red book of the Constitution.

“The cover says ‘Constitution’, but inside lies a red book of Maoism. Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi speaks of Chhatro Ki Goonj (Voice of Students), but in reality, it is nothing more than Jhooth Ki Goonj (Echo of Lies),” he remarked.

He said there is no greater symbol of matriarchy than Vande Mataram, a hymn freedom fighters sang as they walked fearlessly to the gallows. He strongly criticised Sonia Gandhi for allegedly halting the song during a public event.

Turning to the issue of women’s empowerment, he labelled LoP Rahul Gandhi and the constituent parties of the former UPA as the “killers of the Women’s Reservation Bill” for stalling its passage in the past.

“I have complete faith in my leader. Once Prime Minister Narendra Modi resolves to achieve something, he delivers. Defying all odds, PM Modi will ensure the implementation of women’s reservation by 2029,” he assured.

Expressing firm resolve, CM Fadnavis said that while the country is progressing toward becoming a developed nation by 2047 under PM Modi’s leadership, Maharashtra will achieve a $3 trillion economy by 2030 to fulfil every citizen’s aspirations.

He expressed confidence that the Mahayuti government will successfully overcome all challenges to transform the state.
