First Communists and then Trinamool created anti-national mindset in JU: Bengal CM Adhikari

Kolkata, Aug 28 (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday said that first the Communists and then Trinamool Congress created an anti-national mindset within Jadavpur University, which is supposed to be a centre of excellence.

“First, the Communists who ruled West Bengal for 34 years created a mindset against conducting nationalistic rituals within the JU campus, and this created an anti-national mindset within the campus. After that, a pro-Islamist force ruled the state, whose only agenda was to establish Urdu as the second official language in West Bengal. So, both of them are responsible for creating an anti-nationalist mindset in the state,” said CM Adhikari at a function on Raksha Bandhan, where 10,000 voices sang the entire Vande Mataram song.

Speaking on the occasion, he also referred to the “Azadi” slogans being raised within the JU campus. “What kind of freedom are you looking for? Do you want the freedom of consuming drugs within the university campus? When the personnel of Indian armed forces die while fighting the terrorists, these groups do not bring out any protest march. But after Operation Sindoor, the same group brings out a march for peace,” the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister also issued a strong note of caution against those raising the “Kashmir Mange Zadi” slogans. “Do not forget that through Operation Sindoor, the Indian armed forces killed almost the entire family of Masood Azhar. Similarly, our forces will occupy Pakistan-occupied Kashmir also very soon,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister also said that just as anti-national forces had been ousted from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi and Osmania University in Hyderabad, similar forces in JU will be ousted. “The nationalist uprising had happened in West Bengal, and so JU will also be cleansed of such anti-nationalist forces,” CM Adhikari said.

He also warned those writing slogans in support of slain Maoist leader Koteswar Rao alias Kishenji, who was killed in a police encounter in West Bengal in November 2011. “’Red Salute Kishenji’ is written on the walls of Jadavpur University. Who is this Kishenji? He is one who did not believe in the Indian Constitution,” the Chief Minister said.

Adhikar also said that he is determined to free the JU campus of two menaces. “I will ensure that the former students of JU cannot continue occupying the university hostels after they pass out of the university. At the same time, I will also ensure that the consumption of narcotic substances is totally stopped within the JU campus,” the Chief Minister added.
