Samrat Choudhary announces major relief for BPSC TRE-4 candidates, exam to be conducted in single stage

Patna, Aug 27 (IANS) The Bihar government has provided significant relief to candidates preparing for the Bihar Public Service Commission Teacher Recruitment Examination (BPSC TRE-4).

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced on Thursday that the TRE-4 will now be conducted in a single stage, instead of the earlier proposed Preliminary and Main examination system.

In a post on social media platform X, Samrat Choudhary said the Bihar government had been serious about students’ demands from the beginning and had taken a decision in their interest.

He also announced several other measures aimed at improving transparency and efficiency in competitive examinations.

A major decision is the constitution of an expert committee on examination reforms, chaired by a Patna High Court judge.

The committee will examine students’ grievances and provide recommendations for reforms in the examination system.

The Bihar government has also launched the Vidyarthi Sahyog Portal and Vidyarthi Sahyog Shivir to facilitate the speedy resolution of students’ problems.

According to the Bihar government, student grievances are intended to be resolved within 30 days.

For the TRE-4 recruitment process, the Bihar government has decided to proceed according to the rules governing a single examination and the ‘one candidate, one result’ policy.

The reform measures will also cover several other recruitment examinations.

Complaints and evidence relating to issues such as the 70th BPSC examination, Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) recruitment examinations, the recruitment of 1,799 Sub-Inspectors, and the Bihar Eligibility Test (BET) will be presented before the expert committee, with further action based on its recommendations.

The Bihar government has also announced that librarian recruitment will begin soon.

A high-level committee will determine a separate quota relating to marks and weightage for contractual employees, while a comprehensive domicile policy will be implemented across recruitment processes in Bihar.

Other important decisions include a proposal on the maximum age limit for recruitment examinations will be placed before the committee, a recruitment calendar will be issued and strictly followed, greater transparency will be introduced regarding question papers, OMR sheets and answer booklets in recruitment examinations conducted on the BPSC model, the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) will conduct an impartial investigation into alleged paper leaks in examinations such as the Assistant Education Development Officer (AEDO) and Sanitary Inspector examinations conducted through BPSC, and transparency, fairness and accountability will be strengthened across competitive examinations.

The Bihar government’s announcement is expected to bring considerable relief to TRE-4 aspirants, particularly those who had been opposing the two-stage examination format.

The proposed reforms also signal an effort to address wider concerns surrounding recruitment examinations and establish a more transparent and predictable system for students and job aspirants in Bihar.
