Empowering tier 2, tier 3 youth with future skills key to Viksit Bharat 2047: Jayant Chaudhary

New Delhi, Aug 23 (IANS) Empowering youth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities with future-ready skills will be crucial to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary said as the government launched a nationwide cloud and AI skilling initiative targeting 1.5 lakh learners across India.

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the guidance of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), has partnered with Cultus Education and Amazon Web Services (AWS) for the initiative, which aims to expand access to globally relevant cloud and artificial intelligence skills beyond major metropolitan centres.

The programme will provide 1.5 lakh learners with foundational AI and cloud literacy through AWS digital training content, while 10,000 participants will receive intensive, job-ready training through the AWS re/Start programme. AWS re/Start is a free, cohort-based workforce development programme designed to help participants build cloud computing skills and connect with employment opportunities at local employers.

“This initiative reflects the vision of Viksit Bharat, where access to opportunity is not determined by geography or background. As India moves towards becoming a global hub for innovation, technology and talent, it is essential that our youth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns also get the opportunity to equipped themselves with the skills needed for the jobs of the future,” Chaudhary said.

“Such initiatives will play an important role in building an inclusive, skilled and future-ready workforce, which is central to our journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047,” he added.

He said that as India moves towards becoming a global hub for innovation, technology and talent, it is essential that young people in Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns get opportunities to acquire the skills required for the jobs of the future.

“Such initiatives will play an important role in building an inclusive, skilled and future-ready workforce, which is central to our journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047,” he added.

The initiative seeks to address challenges faced by youth outside major technology hubs, including limited access to globally recognised technical training, fewer connections with technology employers and a lack of credentials required to compete for cloud and AI-related jobs.
