Ahead of Assembly polls, BJP eyes youth-focused expansion under ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’

New Delhi, Aug 23 (IANS) The month-long nationwide Seva Sankalp Abhiyan planned by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday is likely to focus on youth-focused expansion of the organisation, building the momentum for the Assembly elections scheduled early next year, party sources said on Sunday.

Party president Nitin Nabin’s strategy session with BJP’s newly-appointed national office-bearers on Sunday primarily revolved around the concept of forming small teams in the coming days to plan and coordinate celebrations and activities as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Service Pledge Campaign) under the ‘Modi @25’ initiative.

The party is also likely to depute a few National General Secretaries as in-charges of different zones to oversee and coordinate the programmes being undertaken in their respective areas around PM Modi’s birthday on September 17, said sources.

Prime Minister Modi’s birthday is observed across the country as Seva Divas, with social welfare activities, blood donation camps and cleanliness drives being organised by BJP activists.

Party sources said that under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, special emphasis will be placed on programmes in poll-bound states, including an aggressive publicity campaign to highlight the achievements and welfare initiatives of the Narendra Modi-led government over the past 12 years.

During the meeting on Sunday, Nabin also reviewed the status of various programmes currently being conducted by the party and discussed measures to ensure their effective implementation and wider outreach.

The discussions were part of the BJP’s broader organisational strategy to strengthen its grassroots presence, expand membership base and intensify public outreach ahead of Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur in early 2027.

On Sunday, several senior leaders, including new national office-bearers and state presidents, attended the meeting chaired by Nabin.

Senior BJP leaders and the party’s newly appointed national general secretaries Smriti Irani, Vinod Tawde and Biplab Deb were among those present.

Punjab BJP in-charge Satish Poonia, state BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon, party’s national vice president Lal Singh Arya, BJP national office-in-charge and MP Tarun Chugh, and national secretary Sandeep Pathak also attended the meeting.

BJP national vice-presidents Vasundhara Raje, Tirath Singh Rawat and Uttar Pradesh BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary were also in attendance.

Other office-bearers, including Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) president Hemang Joshi and BJP Treasurer and Union Minister Piyush Goyal, also joined the discussions steered by BJP chief Nitin Nabin.
