Farmer ID campaign launched, teams to visit farmers: MP CM

Bhopal, Aug 22 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday said the state launched a campaign to create ‘Farmer IDs’ on August 20, with government teams visiting villages to facilitate the process.

Addressing the Balram Krishi Mahotsav at the Agricultural Produce Market in Piparsama, Shivpuri district, virtually from New Delhi, Yadav urged all farmers to get their Farmer IDs prepared, saying they would no longer have to visit offices repeatedly or stand in long queues.

“Farmers will not have to wander from place to place or stand in queues. Government teams will reach them and facilitate the creation of Farmer IDs,” he said.

Yadav assured farmers that there would be no shortage of fertilisers and said the government had decided to provide fertilisers in advance at zero per cent interest so that lack of funds does not affect agricultural operations. He added that the state government had abolished the March 31 deadline for repayment of agricultural loans, allowing farmers to repay at any time within a year.

The Chief Minister said the e‑Vikas system had been made more convenient and farmer‑friendly, with e‑Vikas 2.0 enabling farmers to purchase fertilisers according to their requirements without being bound by mandatory bundling of different fertilisers.

“Farmers should not restrict themselves to traditional crops. Horticulture, dairy, fisheries and animal husbandry can provide additional sources of income,” Yadav said.

He highlighted that Shivpuri’s groundnut production was gaining recognition across the country and pointed to tourism and homestays around the Madhav Tiger Reserve as additional income opportunities.

Yadav announced that from next year, farmers cultivating gram and sugarcane would get full‑day electricity supply, ending the need to irrigate their fields at night. He also said farmers receive Rs 12,000 annually under the combined assistance provided through the Kisan Samman Nidhi by the Centre and state government.

Extending Raksha Bandhan greetings to farmers and Ladli Behna beneficiaries, Yadav said the scheme had transferred funds to their accounts ahead of the festival.
