Jaipur, Aug 21 (IANS) The sixth session of the 16th Rajasthan Assembly was adjourned sine die on Friday.

Before adjourning the House, Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani clarified the entry protocol for the Assembly complex and stressed the need to maintain security and the dignity of the House.

Speaker Vasudev Devnani said the entry arrangements for the Assembly complex are clearly defined.

Gate number 7 is designated for entry into the Assembly, while Gate number 6 is meant for pedestrian movement of members residing in the MLA housing complex.

The Assembly Speaker clarified that permission for group entry through Gate number 6 was never granted in the past, is not permitted at present and will not be allowed in the future.

Devnani said Gate number 6 was open on both Thursday and Friday.

He recalled that on an earlier occasion, two people had entered the complex as part of a group.

The Assembly security personnel identified them and immediately escorted them out.

He praised the security team for taking prompt action.

Devnani termed an attempt to enter the Assembly complex by climbing over the gate a “serious and distressing matter”.

He stressed that security arrangements around the State Assembly are essential and such incidents should not be repeated.

Speaker Devnani also said that both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress have the right to express their views during Legislative proceedings.

The Opposition Congress can raise matters of public interest in accordance with Parliamentary rules and conventions, while the state government should provide appropriate responses to issues raised in the House.

Devnani reminded Legislators that around eight crore people of Rajasthan have elected their representatives and sent them to the state Assembly.

He urged the Assembly members to raise public grievances and issues of public interest in the House and conduct proceedings in a spirit of harmony.

“The public is watching us all,” he said, stressing that legislators must live up to the expectations of the people.

He added that maintaining discipline and following the rules of the House is the collective responsibility of all members.

Devnani appealed to all Assembly members to work together to uphold the dignity and decorum of the House during future proceedings.

The second day of the Rajasthan Assembly’s Monsoon session witnessed disruptions, with Congress MLAs creating an uproar soon after the House assembled.

The Assembly proceedings lasted only 66 minutes in total.

Question Hour continued for around five minutes, while Zero Hour lasted around 18 minutes before the proceedings were disrupted.

The Assembly session was subsequently adjourned sine die at 1:44 p.m.
