‘Aai Kuthe Kaay Karte’ fame Apurva Gore celebrates first ‘Mangala Gaur’ post marriage

Mumbai, August 20 (IANS) Actress Apurva Gore, best known for playing Isha Deshmukh in the Marathi television show “Aai Kuthe Kaay Karte”, celebrated her first “Mangala Gaur” after marriage on August 18.

The actress shared glimpses of the traditional festivities on her social media account.

Apurva looked radiant in a traditional green silk ‘nauvari’ saree with a gold zari border and paired it with a matching blouse. She accessorised the look with traditional Maharashtrian jewellery, including layered necklaces, earrings, green bangles and a nath.

She also sported a gajra in her neatly tied bun and completed her traditional Maharashtrian look with mehendi applied to her palms.

The actress was seen participating in the celebrations with other women dressed in traditional Maharashtrian attire. In one of the pictures, Apurva could be seen holding a yellow cloth as part of the festivities.

Sharing a close-up picture, Apurva wrote in Marathi which further translated into English read, “My mother and father-in-law… Both houses are very enthusiastic…”

In the video, Apurva was also seen taking the traditional Marathi ’Ukhana’, a rhyming couplet taken by married couples while saying each other’s name out loud during functions and festivities as a part of tradition.

For the uninitiated, Apurva tied the knot with actor Anshuman Joshi earlier this year. Anshuman is known for his role as Mukund in the Marathi film “Shala”. The couple had announced their relationship and engagement before getting married.

For the uninitiated, “Mangala Gaur” is a traditional Maharashtrian festival associated particularly with newly married women.

Dedicated to Goddess Gauri, the festival is observed during the Hindu month of Shravan and is associated with marital happiness, prosperity and the well-being of the husband.

The celebrations traditionally bring women together for prayers, folk songs, dances and traditional games such as “phugadi”, “jhimma” and “bhendya” amongst others. The occasion is also known for “ukhane”, in which married women traditionally take their husband’s name in a rhyming couplet.

In Maharashtra, the first “Mangala Gaur” is considered particularly significant for a newlywed.

Talking about Apurva on the professional front, she rose to prominence with “Aai Kuthe Kaay Karte”, where she played Isha Deshmukh, the daughter of Arundhati, played by Madhurani Gokhale-Prabhulkar.

Apart from the long-running television show, Apurva has also appeared in projects including “Ti Phulrani”, “Chait”, “Makeup”, “High Time” and “Wagle Ki Duniya”.
