Odisha Governor, CM Majhi greet people on 80th Independence Day
Bhubaneswar, Aug 15 (IANS) Greetings poured in from various quarters as Odisha joined the nation in celebrating the 80th Independence Day with pomp and gaiety.
Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with several other dignitaries, greeted people on the 80th Independence Day.
“On the occasion of our 80th Independence Day, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all fellow citizens. As we celebrate the spirit of freedom, let us remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and honour the values of unity, dignity and service that define our nation. May we continue to work together towards building a stronger, prosperous and Viksit Bharat,” wished Governor Kambhampati.
CM Majhi, in a video message, wished the people and paid tributes to the freedom fighters on the occasion of Independence Day celebrations. “I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all Indians across the state, the country and the world on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day. 80 years ago on this day we got Independence from colonialism and breathed in an independent India for the first time. Today, a new chapter was added to the glorious, triumphant journey of independent India.”
The Chief Minister also paid devotion-filled tributes to all those freedom fighters who had gifted us a hard-earned Independence.
He said the nation will remain ever indebted to the freedom fighters for their immense sacrifice.
“In the last 12 years, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have commenced a new chapter in nation-building by embracing the mantra of cultural nationalism. Let us together build a beautiful, powerful and developed India, along with a Samruddha Odisha. On this auspicious day, let us proudly unfurl the Tricolour at every home while singing Vande Mataram,” CM Majhi added.
Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo also wished the people on the occasion.
Taking to his X handle, he wrote, “On this historic 80th Independence Day, we bow to the immortal sacrifices that gave us freedom and dignity. Eight decades of resilience have carried Bharat from struggle to strength, from hope to achievement.”
“As Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji reminds us — our duty is not only to celebrate freedom, but to build a Viksit Bharat where every life shines with opportunity. Today, as Odisha salutes the Tricolour, we pledge to uphold justice, liberty, and equality, and to carry forward the dream of a united, strong, and self‑reliant nation. May the spirit of freedom continue to inspire us to serve with devotion and to honour the legacy of our martyrs,” the Deputy CM added.
