‘I could have been deputy CM today’: RJD MLA Bhai Virendra reaffirms loyalty to Lalu

Patna, Aug 11 (IANS) RJD MLA Bhai Virendra has made a strong statement about his long association with the Rashtriya Janata Dal and his loyalty to party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, saying that his political position could have been very different had he left the party during its difficult years.

Amid recent reports of internal differences within the RJD, Bhai Virendra said he was aware of the political manoeuvring against him but did not consider it necessary to respond to every allegation.

He alleged that certain individuals were targeting him in an attempt to protect their own political standing.

Recalling the RJD’s difficult phase, Bhai Virendra said there was a time when the party had only 22 MLAs and several leaders left the organisation.

The RJD leader said he remained with Lalu Prasad Yadav despite the political challenges.

“Had I also left the party back then, the scenario today would have been different. It is possible that I, rather than Bijendra Prasad Yadav, would have been the Deputy Chief Minister today. However, I have made great sacrifices to remain with the party and Lalu Prasad Yadav,” he said.

Bhai Virendra emphasised that his association with the RJD has been based on his commitment to the party and its ideology rather than the pursuit of political office.

The RJD leader said his objective is to take the RJD’s ideology and principles to every village in Bihar and expressed his desire to see Tejashwi Yadav become the Chief Minister of Bihar.

The MLA maintained that his political commitment was not motivated by personal ambition or the expectation of a particular post.

Political speculation surrounding Bhai Virendra had intensified recently after a photograph of him meeting Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary circulated publicly.

Addressing the speculation, Bhai Virendra said the meeting was related strictly to regional development issues and should not be interpreted as having any political significance.

He maintained that meeting the Chief Minister in connection with development-related matters did not indicate any change in his political position or allegiance.

His latest remarks come amid ongoing speculation about internal dynamics within the RJD, with Bhai Virendra once again emphasising his long-standing association with Lalu Prasad Yadav and his commitment to the party.
