Shravan’s 2nd Monday draws massive crowds to Deoghar Temple, special arrangements for devotees
Deoghar, Aug 10 (IANS) A large number of devotees gathered at the Baba Temple in Deoghar, Jharkhand, on the second Monday of Shravan to offer prayers and perform Jalabhishek, with the district administration making special arrangements to ensure that pilgrims faced no inconvenience and could complete their rituals safely, peacefully and in an orderly manner.
The temple witnessed a heavy influx of Shiva devotees as pilgrims arrived to seek the blessings of Baba Baidyanath and offer holy water as part of the auspicious Shravan observances. The large gathering created a deeply devotional atmosphere at the temple, with devotees participating in prayers and rituals dedicated to Lord Shiva.
The district administration put in place arrangements to facilitate the movement of devotees and ensure smooth and orderly conduct of the pilgrimage. Special attention was given to crowd management and the safety and convenience of pilgrims so that they could perform Jalabhishek without any difficulty.
A devotee, speaking to IANS about the arrangements at the temple, said, “There were very good facilities here…”
The second Monday of Shravan holds special significance for devotees of Lord Shiva, and major Shiva temples across the country witness large gatherings on the occasion. In Deoghar, devotees continued to arrive at the Baba Temple to perform darshan and offer holy water to Lord Shiva.
The Baba Baidyanath Temple in Jharkhand is one of India’s most prominent religious sites and an important pilgrimage destination during Shravan. Devotees traditionally visit the temple during the holy month to offer Jal (water) to Lord Shiva and seek his blessings.
Meanwhile, in Uttarakhand, a massive crowd of Shiva devotees gathered at the historic Daksheshwar Mahadev Temple in Kankhal, Haridwar, on Shravan Monday. Carrying Ganga water, devotees performed Jalabhishek and offered prayers, believing the ritual brings blessings and spiritual merit. The temple echoed with chants of “Har Har Mahadev” as devotees continued to arrive.
In Assam, thousands of devotees gathered at the famous Krishnashram Shiva Temple in Nagaon. Devotees from across the district offered water to Lord Shiva and sought his blessings, adding to the religious fervour surrounding the holy month.
With large numbers of pilgrims visiting prominent Shiva shrines during Shravan, temple administrations and local authorities have continued to focus on crowd management, orderly darshan and adequate facilities to ensure devotees can participate in the religious observances smoothly, safely and peacefully.
