Delhi BJP plans simultaneous protests outside homes of 22 AAP MLAs tomorrow

New Delhi, Aug 9 (IANS) The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced simultaneous demonstrations outside the homes of 22 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators on Monday to protest against the Opposition MLAs’ decision to oppose the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana in the Legislative Assembly, a party leader said.

Delhi BJP General Secretary M.L. Gihara will coordinate the simultaneous protests at 8 a.m. outside the residence of all AAP MLAs, the leader said in a statement on Sunday.

The decision to organise the protests coincided with Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor accusing AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Saurabh Bharadwaj of showing signs of political frustration and making irresponsible statements merely to remain in the news.

The Delhi BJP Spokesperson said that the development works being undertaken by the Chief Minister Rekha Gupta-led BJP government in the city, along with schemes being implemented for women and girls, have severely weakened the AAP’s political standing in the national capital.

Kapoor said that ever since surveys predicting AAP’s defeat in the upcoming Punjab elections have started emerging, Kejriwal’s entire team has descended to the lowest level of politics — making baseless allegations and then running away.

“Their political language has completely lost all decorum,” he added.

The Delhi BJP Spokesperson said that Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, in a post on social media platform X, said that once again, AAP Delhi Convenor Saurabh Bharadwaj and MLA Sanjeev Jha attempted to level false and baseless allegations against the Delhi government at a press conference.

Minister Sirsa said the people of Delhi no longer have any faith in the AAP leaders.

“There has been no scam in the Delhi government. I strongly warn Saurabh Bharadwaj and Sanjeev Jha to stop their politics of lies and deceit and apologise, or be prepared to face legal action,” he added.

The Delhi BJP Spokesperson said that it would be better if all AAP leaders, including Kejriwal and Bharadwaj, apologise to the BJP and the Delhi government, otherwise, the people of Delhi, Punjab and across the country will teach them a political lesson.

The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, opposed by AAP MLAs, attracted more than 5,14,460 registrations on the portal till Saturday afternoon, with women in the North-East and North-West districts are leading the surge in the scheme under which eligible beneficiaries will receive financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month.
