MP govt mandates weekly field visits for senior officials under Jan-Vishvas Abhiyan begins from Aug 7
Bhopal, Aug 5 (IANS) In a move aimed at strengthening field-level governance and speeding up public grievance redressal, the Madhya Pradesh government has made it mandatory for senior bureaucrats to undertake field visits every Friday under the Chief Minister Jan-Vishvas Abhiyan, beginning from Chhindwara on August 7.
The General Administration Department (GAD) on Wednesday issued detailed guidelines to all Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Heads of Departments, Divisional Commissioners and District Collectors for implementation of the campaign, which will continue till January 8, 2027.
Under the campaign, every Friday has been designated as Chief Minister Jan-Vishvas Abhiyan Day, during which senior officials will visit districts to inspect implementation of government schemes, interact with citizens and review public service delivery.
According to the government order, “the state government has decided to start this campaign with the aim of quickly resolving the complaints of the general public through field visits, inspection and public dialogue, monitoring the effective implementation of government schemes and ensuring timely delivery of public services.”
To facilitate field inspections, the state government has directed that, except under unavoidable circumstances, no online or offline review meetings will be organised on Fridays at the department, Head of Department, divisional or district levels.
If any Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary or Secretary is unable to undertake a field visit, prior information will have to be furnished to the Chief Secretary’s office.
The guidelines also place special emphasis on timely disposal of public grievances.
All departments have been instructed to conduct weekly reviews of complaints pending under the CM Helpline, public hearings and the Public Service Guarantee Act and ensure that no complaint remains pending unnecessarily.
The GAD has directed departments to ensure “100 per cent resolution of complaints and applications within the prescribed time limit” at both departmental and district levels.
Divisional-level officers, including Additional Directors, Joint Directors and Deputy Directors, have also been asked to carry out field inspections every Friday in districts under their jurisdiction.
The state government said the campaign would be guided by four principles — dialogue, resolution, sensitivity and simplicity — with transparent and accountable governance as its core objective.
