Srabanti Chatterjee’s PA arrested on rape charge; actress severs ties
Kolkata, July 13 (IANS) The personal assistant of popular Bengali actress Srabanti Chatterjee has been arrested on charges of rape, police said on Monday. Police from Chatterjeehat Police Station in Howrah district arrested the personal assistant.
A case has been registered against him under non-bailable sections. He was produced before a court in Howrah on Monday.
No details about the incident have been disclosed so far by the police, the accused or the complainant’s family. According to police sources, the accused works for an event management company. The complainant is said to be his colleague.
The complainant alleged that on April 12, she went to the accused’s house in the Chatterjeehat area for some work, where he allegedly raped her. She subsequently lodged a written complaint against him at Chatterjeehat Police Station on June 12.
Based on her complaint, the police registered a rape case and launched an investigation. The accused was arrested on Sunday night. Police have booked him under several non-bailable sections, including rape. He was produced before the Howrah court on Monday and remanded to police custody.
Following the development, the actress announced in a social media post that she had severed ties with her personal assistant.
“I have been managed by one person namely Arghya Mukherjee residing at 13 Ananta Deb Mukherjee Lane, Sastitala, Howrah. As Talentwala company was associated with me to manage my schedule and events since 2024 and he being an employee of Talentwala was introduced to me by the said company,” the social media post said.
“Presently it came to my knowledge that he is facing a criminal case against him which is quite disturbing to me and though I have no personal knowledge about his personal conduct to anybody. I hereby discontinue him to be my manager till further notice and requested Talentwala too to keep this in record and do the needful. This is for information to everyone,” the actress said.
