Noida, June 23 (IANS) The Gautam Buddha Nagar Police has stepped up security measures to ensure the peaceful and safe observance of the upcoming Muharram festival on June 26. Acting on the directions of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh, senior police officers conducted foot patrols across various police station areas in the district to review security arrangements and issue necessary instructions to personnel on the ground.
Under the supervision of DCP (Noida) Saad Miya Khan, ADCP (Noida) Manisha Singh, accompanied by ACP-3 (Noida) Rakesh Pratap Singh and a police contingent, carried out a foot patrol in the Sector-49 police station area. During the patrol, officers physically inspected the proposed Muharram procession routes and reviewed the security arrangements put in place for the occasion.
While assessing the preparations along the procession route, the officers directed police personnel to remain vigilant and ensure strict monitoring of all sensitive locations. Intensive checking of suspicious individuals and vehicles was also carried out during the exercise.
The officials issued clear instructions to maintain seamless security and traffic management during the festival period. They also emphasised the need for strict action against traffic rule violators to prevent congestion and ensure public safety. Additionally, PCR and PRV vehicles were directed to remain continuously mobile in the area to maintain law and order and respond promptly to any emergency situation.
Meanwhile, a special drive was launched against individuals consuming alcohol in public places under the directions of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh. Under the supervision of DCP Saad Miya Khan and ADCP Manisha Singh, police teams from the Phase-1 and Sector-58 police stations conducted a joint operation on June 22.
During the campaign, action was taken against 102 individuals under Section 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for drinking in public places and creating public nuisance. Police officials stated that the drive against such activities would continue in the coming days to ensure public order.
Security arrangements have also been intensified in the Central Noida region. Under the supervision of the DCP and ADCP (Central Noida), ACP-1 Diksha Singh conducted a foot patrol with police personnel in the Phase-2 police station area to assess preparedness and strengthen security measures.
She instructed officers to install barricades for checking suspicious vehicles, ensure smooth traffic flow, and take strict action against motorists violating traffic regulations.
Police officials said that maintaining peace, harmony, and public safety during the festive season remains their top priority. Continuous patrolling, vehicle checks, and surveillance have been intensified across all police station areas. The police have also appealed to residents to cooperate with authorities and immediately report any suspicious activity.
