Mahayuti govt committed to Maharashtra’s progress: Dy CM Sunetra Pawar

Mumbai, June 21 (IANS) Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar on Sunday said the Mahayuti government is committed to Maharashtra’s progress while laying emphasis on public welfare and democratic dialogue.

Addressing a press conference on the eve of the Maharashtra Legislature’s monsoon session, Deputy CM Pawar highlighted that the legislature serves as the supreme platform in a democratic system to address the expectations, questions and aspirations of the public.

She said the upcoming session is expected to witness extensive discussions focusing on public interest, development works and crucial matters related to the state’s progress.

She expressed confidence that the monsoon session would meet public expectations, accelerate development and pave the way for decisions in the best interests of the state.

“The Mahayuti government is committed to the holistic development of Maharashtra, ensuring that public issues will be raised and effectively addressed on the floor of the House,” she noted.

Referring to the traditional high tea event held on the eve of the session, which was boycotted by the opposition, DCM Pawar said the event is an old and positive tradition aimed at fostering effective communication between the ruling alliance and the opposition rather than being a mere formality.

“Differences of opinion can exist, but dialogue is extremely important in a democracy. Constructive discussion and positive cooperation are necessary for the welfare of the public,” she said.

Deputy CM Pawar added that all issues can be resolved through communication.

She said the state government is ready to welcome every constructive suggestion from the opposition to find meaningful solutions to public issues.

Due to the impact of the El Nino effect, the state has not yet received the expected rainfall and the progress of the monsoon remains slow.

In light of these conditions, farmers have been advised to avoid rushing into sowing operations and instead rely on official forecasts issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) before making any decisions.

To provide relief to the farming community amid the delayed monsoon, DCM Pawar highlighted the recent distribution of the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.

She said that the instalment, released online by Prime Minister Narendra Modi two days ago, directly transferred Rs 1,817 crore into the bank accounts of around 91 lakh farmer families across Maharashtra.

She added that this financial assistance would provide support to farmers during the challenging period.
